Description
Holiday home by the waterfront in Rødvig on Stevns
First row to the water
We have a lovely, older family holiday home, which is located directly on the waterfront in Rødvig on Stevns, which we would like to rent out so that more people can enjoy it.
Here you have the opportunity to live really close to the sea. In the bedroom you can wake up just a few meters from the water in a good elevation bed (80x200) with the duvet wrapped nicely around you, and open the double doors to the most beautiful sunrise over the water or the roaring sea depending on the weather. The bedroom can be darkened.
The house is continuously maintained and appears bright and friendly. We have furnished it with a mix of heirlooms and newer furniture. There is also a small chamber with two bunk beds of 80x190 (best suited for children), but the holiday home is aimed at the mature couple.
From the living room you also have a fantastic view out over the sea as well as towards Rødvig Harbour. You can see Stevns Klint on one side and Møns Klint on the other.
You can enjoy your breakfast on the edge of the water and take a few steps down to the most beautiful bathing water. We have stones on the beach in front of our house, but you only need to go a few meters out before there is the loveliest sandy bottom. A little to the left towards Rødvig Harbour there is pure sandy beach and also a bathing bridge.
From the holiday home's location, you can walk to the right down along the beach to a forest area and to the left you can walk along the beach into Rødvig Harbour, where you will find both restaurants and cafés. You eat well at both Hotel Klinten and at Rødvig Badehotel.
There is also the opportunity for a hiking trip on the so-called Stevns Klint Trampesti where you can take a walk along the cliff edge in beautiful nature and with a fantastic panoramic view. The path stretches 21 kilometers from Rødvig Harbour to the small harbour at Bøgeskoven where there is an old cozy inn. There is a free bus that you can hop on and off if you do not wish to walk the entire route or you can split it over a few days and experience some of the historical places you pass along the way.
Stevns Klint is on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites because it contains the story of the great mass extinction 66 million years ago. More than half of Earth's animal species were wiped out – including the dinosaurs. You can experience that story in the museum, Stevns Klint Experience, which is beautifully located in the former Boesdal Limestone Quarry.
Among other things you will pass Højerup Gamle Kirke, which is located so far out on the cliff edge that the church choir and part of the churchyard collapsed into the sea in 1928. There is also an inn here where you can eat lunch. You also pass the museum Stevns Fort. During the Cold War, the underground Stevnsfort was a piece in Denmark's and NATO's defense.
The property is isolated from the rest of the holiday home area where you drive along a farm road to the holiday home for the last stretch of the way. See map under 'pictures'. There is parking on the grass lawn behind the house.
If you want a more well-stocked place to shop, Super Brugsen in Store Heddinge is recommended. Located approximately 8 km from Rødvig.
