Are there hidden costs outside the season?⌄
The price is the rental fee. Electricity, water and any final cleaning are typically charged separately — and electricity consumption is naturally higher in winter. The rate is stated for each individual holiday home.
Deposit and prepayment — what is the difference?⌄
A deposit is an amount held as security against any damage to the holiday home, and it is returned to you after your stay if the house is left in the same condition as on arrival. A prepayment is part of the rental price itself, paid at the time of booking, with the balance due before arrival. Both amounts are charged by the agency that rents out the house — not by Ferieboligsiden — and the amount, deadlines and conditions are set out in the rental terms for the individual house. Check the exact terms in the rental terms before you book.
Should I pay for electricity in a holiday home?⌄
Yes, almost always based on actual consumption via meter readings at arrival and departure. The rate (typically 2.50–4.50 kr/kWh) is stated on the property's page.
Will I get my deposit back?⌄
Yes — a deposit is a security deposit and is refunded after your stay, at some agencies after deduction of consumption, usually within a couple of weeks.
